Whimsical

I look at your eyes while you look at mine
never looking at each other, just posing in time
That wind tussled hair on a beach in Maine
I could walk it now, but it's not the same
but it's probably best if we just forget
walk away while there is getting to get
my hand lingers for a while, memories all mine
will you look back, maybe take it as a sign
draw yourself close to read the words
is it what I'm reading or what you've heard
strangers, lovers, strangely loving on another
My own thoughts spread thin, barely enough cover
One passage leading on through the spectrum of truth
would skipping around it this time be some kid of abuse
I could tiptoe by and close my eyes
Pretend that this made up world was fine
And we could smile at each other, know what love is for
Drink deep in our own souls, if only for a while
